Shape & repair
Earlobe surgery
Minor surgery planned for selected concerns involving stretched, split, or asymmetric earlobes.
Overview
A considered, individual plan
Earlobe surgery may reshape tissue or repair a split or stretched piercing. The plan depends on tissue quality, scarring, symmetry, and whether future piercing is desired.
Candidacy overview
Who may consider it
- Adults with a split, stretched, or asymmetric earlobe
- People who understand that a visible scar remains
- Those without active infection at the treatment site
- People able to follow wound-care guidance
Consultation
What to expect
- 01Assess the tissue, scar pattern, and both ears
- 02Discuss the intended shape and limits of symmetry
- 03Review local anaesthesia, wound care, and scar risks
- 04Discuss whether and when future piercing may be considered
Recovery
A general timeline
This is an orientation, not a personal recovery plan. Your surgical team’s instructions take priority.
First days
Local tenderness and mild swelling may occur. Keep the area protected as instructed.
1–2 weeks
Wound review or suture removal may be planned.
Several weeks
The scar remains active and should be protected.
Several months
Scar maturation continues; discuss any future piercing with the clinic.
Safety
Potential risks and complications
This is not a complete risk list. Your individual risks, alternatives, and the option of no treatment are discussed in consultation.
- Bleeding, infection, wound separation, and local-anaesthetic reactions
- Visible, raised, widened, or tender scars
- Asymmetry, contour irregularity, or recurrence of stretching
- An unsatisfactory result or need for further treatment
Photography & privacy
Clinical photographs are part of careful planning.
Standardized photographs may be recommended before and after treatment for clinical documentation and discussion. Any separate use for education or publication requires explicit consent. Consent can be withheld without affecting care; ask the clinic how images are stored, protected, and withdrawn from optional use.
