Eyelids

For the upper and lower eyelids, excess skin and fat are assessed together with eyelid position and supporting structures. Tiia Pihlamaa always also evaluates brow position, forehead muscle function, and hairline location.

Overview

A considered, individual plan

Treatment around the eyelids is always planned on the basis of an examination performed at the consultation. Heaviness, excess skin, puffiness, or lower-lid problems can arise from different structures, so no single procedure suits every concern.

Procedures and assessment

What the category may include

Upper eyelid surgery

Upper-eyelid skin and, when appropriate, other tissues are treated conservatively with eye function, brow position, and scar placement in mind.

Lower eyelid surgery

Assessment considers skin, fat position, eyelid support, and the lid–cheek junction. Technique depends on the findings.

Combined eyelid and brow assessment

Upper-eyelid heaviness may partly reflect brow position. Consultation identifies which structure should be addressed.

Mention dry eyes, visual symptoms, previous eye procedures, and medicines. Together we discuss your goals and the available methods, and make a plan. The result is always individual and true to you.
