Brow and forehead lift

Brow and forehead lift: Surgery planned to reposition the brow and address heaviness in the upper face.

What is brow and forehead lift?

A brow lift or forehead lift assesses and changes the position of the brows and forehead tissues. Heaviness in the upper face may relate to descending brows, excess upper-eyelid skin or a combination of both. The forehead is therefore not considered in isolation. The intended change should fit your own proportions and expression, rather than promising a particular eyebrow height for every person.

A forehead or brow lift may be considered when brow position contributes to upper-face heaviness. Technique and incision placement depend on hairline, forehead anatomy, previous surgery, and the desired change.

Before your appointment, you can write down what troubles you most and when you notice it. Describe in your own words what you would like to change and what you would prefer to keep. A photograph may help explain a question without becoming a target. Consultation is a place to clarify wishes together, not a situation in which you must already know the right technique or decide on surgery immediately.

Bring practical questions into the discussion too. How much time can you arrange away from work? Who could help at home if needed? Are there trips, celebrations or particular work commitments planned for the coming months? Sharing these circumstances helps make the plan compatible with your life. Ask for clarification whenever something remains unclear, and ask how to reach your treating team before and after surgery. General website content is not a personal decision or treatment plan.

Before-and-after photographs show individual patient situations. When looking at them, consider what interests you and what you would like to ask during your own consultation. Another person’s photographs do not promise the same change for you. Say if the examples raise concerns or suggest a change that feels too extensive. Your own goal need not match a gallery example, and there is no need to rush a surgical decision. You can request the proposed plan in writing and return to your questions later.

Who is brow and forehead lift suitable for?

A brow and forehead lift may suit someone whose concern involves brow descent or heaviness across the forehead. Assessment distinguishes brow position from eyelid skin: upper eyelid surgery alone does not correct every brow-related change. Hairline position, forehead height, asymmetry and previous injections or surgery also form part of the discussion. Suitability is determined only after an individual examination and review of expectations.

  • Adults with brow descent or upper-face heaviness
  • People whose concerns are not explained by eyelid skin alone
  • Those with realistic expectations about scars and asymmetry
  • People medically suitable for elective surgery

How the operation is performed

The method may be endoscopic or open, and in some circumstances lifting is focused on a more limited area. Incisions and their relationship to the hairline depend on the technique. Anaesthesia options and estimated operating time are discussed once the plan is defined. A technique’s name is not a promise of a better result: the important issue is a reasoned choice based on your anatomy and goals.

  • Assess brow position, eyelids, hairline, and forehead movement
  • Separate brow-related concerns from eyelid-related concerns
  • Discuss incision options, sensation changes, asymmetry, and hair-related risks
  • Review whether a different or combined approach may be more suitable

Brow and forehead lift recovery

Swelling and bruising can affect the forehead and the area around the eyes. Returning to work depends on its demands, how you feel and visible recovery. Brow position changes during healing, so the expression seen in the first days should not be taken as the final result. Sensation and scar maturation may progress more slowly than visible swelling. Time off work and return to exercise are agreed individually.

First days
Forehead swelling, bruising, pressure, and altered sensation may occur.
1–2 weeks
Wound review may occur; bruising often begins to fade at an individual pace.
2–6 weeks
Return to exercise and normal routines is gradual and follows clinical advice.
Several months
Brow position, sensation, and scars continue to settle.

Risks and possible complications

The risk discussion includes altered sensation, changes in nerve function, hair loss around incisions and changes to the hairline. Brow asymmetry or a position different from the intended result is also possible. Scars may remain visible or widen. Previous surgery and tissue characteristics influence planning, so using the same technique in different people does not mean identical healing or an identical aesthetic outcome.

  • Bleeding, infection, delayed healing, and anaesthesia-related complications
  • Visible scars, hair loss around an incision, or altered hairline
  • Temporary or persistent numbness, weakness, itching, or asymmetry
  • Eye or brow position that differs from the intended result

Price – what determines it

This page does not state a confirmed surgical price or assume that one fee applies to every situation. Ask Sairaala KL for an up-to-date written estimate based on your own plan. Check how consultation, the operation, anaesthesia, operating facilities and follow-up are itemised, and which are included in the quotation. This lets you compare the complete proposal without making assumptions about what a single figure covers.

Also ask about any separately charged investigations, supplies or additional appointments, together with payment and appointment-change terms. If a combination of procedures is proposed, request a clear description in the quotation. Do not infer your fee from another patient’s bill. Appointments and price enquiries are handled by the clinic on +358 20 766 9390; website information is not an individual quotation.
