Limbs

In the surgical assessment of the limbs, plastic surgeon Tiia Pihlamaa considers skin quality, the amount of tissue beneath the skin, that is fat, possible scars, and functional factors.

Overview

A considered, individual plan

Limb concerns may include localized fat deposits, skin laxity, scars, or congenital changes. Planning is always based on individual examination, mobility, and realistic goals.

Procedures and assessment

What the category may include

Localized fat assessment

Liposuction or other contouring suits selected situations where the skin is not loose. Skin elasticity plays an important role so that liposuction does not leave hanging, loose skin behind.

Skin and tissue laxity review

Excess skin may require surgical correction by removing skin. The scar then runs along the inner side of the upper arm, and the aim is for it to be as invisible as possible from the front or back when the arm is relaxed at the side. Scar placement and recovery time are gone through carefully.

Scar and asymmetry correction

Previous scars, injury after-effects, or congenital differences are assessed individually. It is important to understand that perfect symmetry of the limbs is difficult to achieve.

Consultation covers scars, sensory changes, possible asymmetry, and risks related to surgery. Recovery time and return of sensation vary. The result is always individual and true to you.
