Brow & upper face
Forehead lift
Surgery planned to reposition the brow and address heaviness in the upper face.
Overview
A considered, individual plan
A forehead or brow lift may be considered when brow position contributes to upper-face heaviness. Technique and incision placement depend on hairline, forehead anatomy, previous surgery, and the desired change.
Candidacy overview
Who may consider it
- Adults with brow descent or upper-face heaviness
- People whose concerns are not explained by eyelid skin alone
- Those with realistic expectations about scars and asymmetry
- People medically suitable for elective surgery
Consultation
What to expect
- 01Assess brow position, eyelids, hairline, and forehead movement
- 02Separate brow-related concerns from eyelid-related concerns
- 03Discuss incision options, sensation changes, asymmetry, and hair-related risks
- 04Review whether a different or combined approach may be more suitable
Recovery
A general timeline
This is an orientation, not a personal recovery plan. Your surgical team’s instructions take priority.
First days
Forehead swelling, bruising, pressure, and altered sensation may occur.
1–2 weeks
Wound review may occur; bruising often begins to fade at an individual pace.
2–6 weeks
Return to exercise and normal routines is gradual and follows clinical advice.
Several months
Brow position, sensation, and scars continue to settle.
Safety
Potential risks and complications
This is not a complete risk list. Your individual risks, alternatives, and the option of no treatment are discussed in consultation.
- Bleeding, infection, delayed healing, and anaesthesia-related complications
- Visible scars, hair loss around an incision, or altered hairline
- Temporary or persistent numbness, weakness, itching, or asymmetry
- Eye or brow position that differs from the intended result
Photography & privacy
Clinical photographs are part of careful planning.
Standardized photographs may be recommended before and after treatment for clinical documentation and discussion. Any separate use for education or publication requires explicit consent. Consent can be withheld without affecting care; ask the clinic how images are stored, protected, and withdrawn from optional use.
